Dodgers Issue Statement on Julio Urias; Court Date Set Following DV Arrest

The starting pitcher was arrested on Sunday night.

Unsettling news out of Los Angeles on Monday morning as Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias was arrested for domestic violence on Sunday night and released on a $50,000 bond. ESPN was the first to publically report the incident.

The Dodgers issued a statement on the situation late Monday morning.

We are aware of an incident involving Julio Urías. While we attempt to learn all the facts, he will not be traveling with the team. The organization has no further comment at this time.

According to The Athletic, Urias was charged with a felony for "corporal injury on a spouse." The arrest came at 11 PM PT on Sunday night and Urias was released early on Monday morning after posting his bond.

Urias attended a LAFC match against Inter Miami on Sunday evening and was arrested after the conclusion of the match.

Major League Baseball is expected to place Urias on administrative leave while investigating the incident.

This is the second domestic violence arrest in his career. Back in 2019, he was suspended for 20 games for violating the joint MLB/MLBPA Domestic Violence policy for an incident involving his girlfriend at a mall in Los Angeles. No charges were filed from that arrest.

The left-handed pitcher is 11-8 with a 4.60 ERA in 21 starts for the Dodgers this season. He is set to become a free agent after the World Series.
