Dodgers News: Dave Roberts Knows Bobby Miller is Ready for Postseason Baseball

The rookie is ready to dominate.

The MLB playoffs start this weekend for the Dodgers, and they seem ready to right the wrongs from last season. LA was bounced early in the postseason a year ago, despite holding the best record in the league and their best in franchise history with 111 wins.

But now, they feel more confident entering the playoffs, even if their postseason rotation may be a little unknown. They have faith in their guys, and LA is set up potentially well for the first two games of the postseason.

Veteran Clayton Kershaw will be taking the ball for Game 1, only to be followed by rookie sensation Bobby Miller taking the mound in Game 2. Miller has more than proved himself this season, and he has earned a spot in the postseason rotation.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts spoke about Miller and gave his thoughts on the confidence level in the rookie to get the job done when the lights are the brightest.

“I think that you can have confidence, but to have real confidence that is sustainable, you have to perform and pitch well and he’s done that,” Roberts said. “Each time out there he’s gotten better and taken something from each outing."

Miller has been outstanding this season since he was called up to the major leagues in May. He has helped the team stabilize their rotation and has the look of a future ace for LA.

His ability to not get rattled on the mound is one of his best characteristics and has allowed for great success to start his career. The playoffs are a different animal, but Miller seems ready to dominate the competition.

“He’ll be ready to go for the postseason,” Roberts said.

Miller finished his rookie year with an ERA of 3.76 and a WHIP of 1.10. He also struck out 119 over 124.1 innings of work.

It was a rookie year to remember, and now the real games begin. This is when Miller can put his name into the history books, and the hope is that he does just that.
