Former Dodger Cody Bellinger Misses Postseason for First Time in Career

The grass isn't always greener on the other side.

For the first time in seven seasons as a big leaguer, Cody Bellinger will not be playing October baseball. The former Dodger put together an exceptional season for the Chicago Cubs, bouncing back to the tune of a .307 average with 26 home runs and 96 RBI in 129 games.

While he continued to produce in September, the rest of his team cratered around him, losing 16 of 27 games to fall out of postseason contention.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers have punched another ticket to the playoffs and sit just one win shy of another 100 win season, a mark Bellinger was a part of four times in his six seasons with LA.

All in all, it was a successful season for the Comeback Player of the Year hopeful. Bellinger is likely to decline his half of a mutual option with the Cubbies and once again test the free agent waters this winter. After hitting a combined .203 in his final three seasons with the Dodgers (which led to a non-tender last year), the former NL MVP is primed for a big contract this offseason.
