Former Dodgers Reliever Designated for Assignment by Struggling Mets

He'll try to find his next home soon.

The New York Mets made a roster move this week, designating a former Los Angeles Dodgers reliever for assignment in the midst of what's been an extremely disappointing season for the team.

The Mets DFA'd RHP Edwin Uceta on Wednesday and promoted reliever Dennis Santana to the big leagues to take his spot on the 40-man roster, the team announced.

Uceta appeared in only eight total games for the organization, with four of those coming for the Mets' Triple-A affiliate in Syracuse, where he put up a 1.93 ERA over 4 2/3 total innings pitched.

He did throw in one game for the New York Mets this year, logging three scoreless innings in a loss to the San Francisco Giants this April.

As for Uceta's time with the Dodgers, he pitched in 14 games for LA in 2021 but could never find his footing over that time, with a 6.64 ERA over his abbreviated period in Dodger blue.

Interestingly enough, Santana also saw time in Los Angeles, logging a 6.42 ERA in 32 appearances over parts of four seasons with the Dodgers.

Santana has spent most of his year with Triple-A Syracuse, logging 29 appearances and a 5.73 ERA at that level. That said, he's played in eight games for New York this season, tallying a 6.23 ERA over that time.

Now one former Dodger will take the place of another in New York, and Uceta will try to find a home with another organization as he attempts to establish firm footing in MLB.
