The Cleveland Guardians and Detroit Tigers' four-game set at Progressive Field got off to a soggy start. Literally.

Game one of the series was postponed on Thursday as a line of rain moved through greater Cleveland leaving the field in unplayable conditions. The call was may about an hour and a half before the game it would be easier to be made up as a doubleheader on Friday, August 18.

The two-game set on Friday will begin at 4:10 with game two starting right after game one.

Fans who originally had tickets for Friday night's game will be able to attend both games. However, those who had tickets to Thursday's game will need to buy an additional ticket if they would like to stay for the nightcap.

Some other notes to consider if you planned or plan to be down at the ballpark on Friday.

  • Free Shirt Friday will be distributed before game 1 while supplies last.
  • Dollar Dog Night will begin service between games one and two.

Ultimately, it's disappointing that Thursday night's game couldn't fit in. But the doubleheader on Friday will allow for each team to reset instead of trying to start the game and have it be delayed in the middle.
