REPORT: Multiple Teams Interested In Former Guardians Pitcher

Former Cleveland Guardians pitcher Noah Syndergaard is reportedly drawing interest from rival teams.

Starting pitching is typically high on the list of needs when teams are looking to upgrade during the offseason. This means they may be willing to take a chance on someone with a lot of upside.

Clubs are reportedly turning to former Cleveland Guardians pitcher Noah Syndergaard as an option as the starting pitching market really begins to heat up. Robert Murray, an MLB Insider for FanSided, said on Foul Territory that Syndergaard is someone to keep an eye on during this period of free agency.

"[Syndergaard is] someone obviously coming off a down year last year with the Dodgers and then Cleveland. He's someone I know that certain teams are eyeing up as a bounceback candidate and it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up getting another contract this year as teams try to take a high upside swing there for cheap."

Signing Syndergaard to a contract would certainly be a low-risk, high-reward move. Thor was once a Cy Young caliber pitcher when he was with the New York Mets but his 2023 campaign was one that he's looking to get past.

The right-hander had an ERA of 7.16 in 12 starts with the Dodgers and was traded to the Guardians for Amed Rosario at the deadline. Syndergaard's time in Cleveland was slightly better posting an ERA of 5.40 but he was eventually designated for assignment after just six starts.

Syndergaard has a very impressive track record so if a team truly believes that he could return to being an effective pitcher then taking a shot on the veteran makes a lot of sense.
