2024 Guardians Spring Training Players Of The Game: Game 22

Cleveland's Josh Naylor, Brayan Rocchio, Hunter Gaddis, and Jaime Barria each played well in the team's 6-0 loss to a San Francisco Giants split squad.

The Cleveland Guardians suffered their 12th 2024 Cactus League loss with a 6-0 defeat to a San Francisco Giants split squad this past Saturday afternoon.

With 90 players representing the Guardians during spring training (40-man roster, 22 non-roster invitees, and 28 depth camp players), each game’s roster will vary.

Based on Cleveland’s roster for this past Saturday’s game and their performances in the contest, here are four Players of the Game.

Josh Naylor, 1B

The Guardians’ starting first baseman recorded his second consecutive two-hit game.

Naylor began his day at the plate with a two-out double in the top of the first inning. This was his second double of the spring.

Then, he hit a two-out single in the top of the third inning.

Brayan Rocchio, SS

Cleveland’s third-ranked prospect according to MLB Pipeline recorded his first multi-hit game of the spring.

Rocchio tallied his first hit of the day in the top of the fifth inning, when he hit his second double of the spring.

Then, the 23-year-old hit a two-out single in the top of the seventh inning.

Hunter Gaddis, RHP

The 25-year-old recorded his third consecutive scoreless relief appearance.

Gaddis also did not allow a hit for his second straight relief appearance, surrendering just one walk and throwing three strikeouts in the bottom of the fifth inning.

In seven relief appearances so far this spring, the right-hander has tallied a 2.08 ERA, 11 strikeouts, two walks, a 0.81 WHIP, and a .167 opposing batting average.

Jaime Barria, RHP

For the third time in his last four relief appearances, the 27-year-old pitched a scoreless, hitless inning.

Barria allowed one walk and struck out the final two batters he faced in the bottom of the sixth inning.
