Guardians Spring Training Players Of The Game: Split Squad Vs. Brewers

Cleveland's Ramón Laureano, Andrés Giménez, Hunter Gaddis, and Logan Allen each had a productive performance in the team's 8-5 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Cleveland Guardians suffered their 13th 2024 Cactus League loss with an 8-5 defeat to the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday afternoon.

With 90 players representing the Guardians during spring training (40-man roster, 22 non-roster invitees, and 28 depth camp players), each game’s roster will vary.

Based on Cleveland’s split squad roster for this game and their performances in the contest, here are four Players of the Game.

Ramón Laureano, RF

After entering the contest with one double in his first 12 games this spring, Laureano hit a pair of doubles in a 2-for-3 performance at the plate.

With two outs in the bottom of the first inning, his first double of the day drove in the game’s first run. The 29-year-old has recorded four of his six RBI this spring in his last four spring training games.

Andrés Giménez, 2B

After entering the contest with one RBI in his first 12 games this spring, Giménez drove in a pair of runs with his only hit of the afternoon.

He recorded an RBI single immediately after Laureano’s RBI double to extend Cleveland’s early lead to 2-0. Giménez then stole second base to tally his fourth stolen base of the spring.

Hunter Gaddis, RHP

The 25-year-old recorded his third consecutive scoreless, hitless relief appearance.

Gaddis pitched a pair of perfect innings, striking out four of the six batters he faced in 14 pitches (all strikes). The right-hander now has a 1.69 ERA, 15 strikeouts, and just two walks in eight relief appearances so far this spring.

Logan Allen, LHP

The 25-year-old left-hander pitched a spring-high five innings for the Guardians.

Allen allowed two hits, three earned runs, and three walks, while throwing a spring-high five strikeouts in 40 pitches (27 strikes).
