2024 Guardians Spring Training Players Of The Game: Game 6

Cleveland's Will Brennan, Daniel Schneemann, Gavin Williams, and Adam Oller had productive performances in the team's 4-1 loss to the Los Angeles Angels.

The Cleveland Guardians suffered their fourth 2024 Cactus League loss with a 4-1 defeat to the Los Angeles Angels yesterday afternoon.

With 90 players representing the Guardians during spring training (40-man roster, 22 non-roster invitees, and 28 depth camp players), each game’s roster will vary.

Based on Cleveland’s roster for yesterday’s game and their performances in the contest, here are four Players of the Game.

Will Brennan, DH

The 26-year-old recorded his second hit of the spring, which ended up driving in the Guardians’ only run of the day.

With one out in the top of the ninth inning, Brennan hit an RBI triple to right field for his second RBI in three games so far this spring.

Daniel Schneemann, 3B

The 27-year-old, who hit .267 in 114 games with Triple-A Columbus last season, recorded Cleveland’s only other extra-base hit of the game.

Schneemann hit a double to center field with one out in the top of the ninth inning, eventually scoring on Brennan’s hit in the ensuing at-bat.

Gavin Williams, RHP

In his first start of the spring, the 2021 first-round pick had a stellar performance.

The 24-year-old pitched two scoreless, near-perfect innings and threw four strikeouts, including a strikeout of star Angels center fielder Mike Trout to end the first frame.

Williams’ lone blemish was a walk to begin the bottom of the second inning.

Adam Oller, RHP

The right-hander, who signed a Minor League contract with the Guardians in November, did well in his third appearance of the spring.

The 29-year-old pitched a scoreless bottom of the sixth inning, facing the minimum of three batters and allowing just one walk.

Up next, Cleveland will face the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight at 8:05 p.m. EST.
