Mets Top Prospect Brett Baty Day-to-Day with Thumb Inflammation
A sigh of relief for the Mets.
On Tuesday, third baseman Brett Baty exited Triple-A Syracuse's game with thumb soreness and underwent an MRI.
The MRI revealed no structural damage, however, and he is considered day-to-day with inflammation in his thumb.
Baty, 23, is 6-for-15 with two home runs so far with Syracuse after a strong Spring Training where he went 13-for-40 with 10 walks.
The Mets chose to start Baty at Triple-A to get additional seasoning, and so far, he has continued to mash the ball.
With Eduardo Escobar struggling for the Mets to begin the campaign, Baty could be up sooner rather than later if he continues to play strong baseball.
