Brett Baty Homers In Yet Another Robust Performance At Triple-A
Another day, another killer game for Mets prized prospect Brett Baty.
On Tuesday night, Baty went 3-for-5 at the dish that included a double and a home run, and in the process raised his season batting average to .391.
Baty doubled in the first inning to drive home infielder Danny Mendick, singled in the fifth and then topped off his performance with a long ball in the ninth.
Baty recently missed a few games with inflammation in his thumb, but hasn't missed a beat since returning.
On the season, the young infielder has gone 9-for-23 and has three home runs in six games.
While Baty was originally sent down as Spring Training dwindled down to get more seasoning, he has proven he may not need to be in the minors much longer.
The Mets are 6-6 on the season and lost 4-2 on Tuesday night at Citi Field in a game where they truly lacked the big hit.
New York has decided to roll with Eduardo Escobar at third base primarily, but with his (4-for-36) and the rest of the team's offensive struggles, Baty might force the Mets' hand sooner rather than later.
In addition to Baty's strong performance Tuesday, prospects Mark Vientos and Ronny Mauricio went yard as well.
