The San Diego Padres have had a horrendous month of May. The Friars can't seem to get it together, and fans are becoming anxious and weary of the gold and brown. Although the Padres, as a whole, are lacking, their young superstar Fernando Tatis Jr. has been quite the opposite.

The month of May has been kind to the one-time All-Star, and the Padre commentators detail what has been going well for him prior to their Saturday matchup against the Boston Red Sox.

"He brings athleticism, he brings excitement in right field. Fernando has great power to the opposite field, pull side, you hang a breaking ball, and he's going to crush it."

-Mark Grant

In 17 games this month, the righty slugger has slashed .288/.325/.534 with a .859 OPS, tallying five home runs, eight RBIs, and has scored 11 runs. The 24-year-old missed the entire 2022 season due to a wrist injury he suffered in the off-season and was suspended 80 games for PEDs.

All that is now behind Tatis as he has seemed to find his stride; however, it hasn't translated into team success. The Friars' offense has struggled to produce runs, as they only have eight hits and three runs in two games against the Red Sox.

Hopefully, Fernando's game can rub off on the entire offense because they will need it if they want to get back to .500 and beyond.
