The San Diego Padres were in desperate need of a win. On Saturday, they got it in angry fashion.

The Padres beat the Cincinnati Reds, 12-5, on Saturday, in a game where the Padres offense let out some built up frustration.

The scoring started in the third inning, when Fernando Tatis Jr. hit an RBI double. The Reds tied it in the bottom of the third with an RBI double of their own, but then it was all Friars.

In the top of the sixth inning, Juan Soto uncorked a deep ball to right field, a three-run shot that gave the Padres a 4-1 lead.

Next up was Manny Machado, and he deposited a ball over the left-center field wall, going back-to-back with Soto and giving the Padres a 5-1 lead.

In the top of the seventh inning, the Padres put up a five-spot, which ended in a two-run bomb by Machado, his second of the day.

The Reds did make things interesting, though, as in the bottom of the seventh inning, they loaded the bases against Luis Garcia. Then, Jonathan India came up, and hit a grand slam to cut the Padres lead to five.

In the top of the eighth, though, the Padres got a few back. They loaded the bases, and got sacrifice flies by Tatis and Soto, making it 12-5.

Michael Wacha gave the Padres another solid start, allowing one earned run across five innings and getting the win.

The two teams will play the rubber match of the series on Sunday, with first pitch at 10:40 a.m. PT. It'll be interesting to see who's on the mound for the Padres.
