Despite having a nagging injury that has been bothering him for weeks, Manny Machado is doing whatever he can to get on the field every day.

Machado is fighting through an elbow injury right now that has been affecting his play.

Manager Bob Melvin has been starting to play Machado at DH for a majority of the days as a way to lighten the load for the 10-year veteran.

Although he is suffering through pain, Machado is continuing to follow through on a promise that he made earlier in the season to play every game.

He knows that fans are coming to the ballpark and spending their money to see him.

With that being said, Machado is determined to finish out the season without being shut down.

“Whatever I’ve got to do is to be in the lineup is key,” Machado said. “Whether it’s playing third base or DH-ing whatever it is, it’s just about being in the lineup, competing, trying to leave it all on the field. There’s not many games left.”

Despite suffering through this injury, Machado's production at the plate hasn't slowed down.

Over the past week, Machado has hit .296 with a home run in seven games.

On the year, Machado is hitting .252 with 26 home runs and 76 RBIs. While this has been a down year for Machado, he has been one of the biggest bright spots in the Padres lineup day in and day out.

With less than 30 games remaining in the season, it seems like Machado will fight his way through injury all the way to the end.
