Going into the trade deadline, people weren't sure what AJ Preller and the Padres were going to do.

The team was on the line of being buyers or sellers and decided to go all in. Even though the team made moves to get better, writers are criticizing the moves the Friars made.

Bleacher Report came out with an article detailing the eight teams that had the worst trade deadlines. The Padres made their way onto that list.

In the article, Kerry Miller did not like the quality of players the Padres were receiving for top prospects.

The team acquired Rich Hill and Ji-Man Choi from the Pirates. Garrett Cooper and Sean Reynolds made their way from Miami and Scott Barlow came from the Royals.

Although they got tons of MLB veterans that have playoff experience, it came at a cost.

The team traded away both Ryan Weathers and Henry Williams who were supposed to be important parts of the team's future.

The article was mostly critical of the Padres decision to not sell. The team's farm system could have improved drastically if they moved either Blake Snell or Josh Hader.

It seemed like a last-minute decision to not go the buyer route.

"The Padres woke up Tuesday morning and panicked like a high school student who suddenly realized they had to submit something for the science fair.

"Had they gone the selling route, they could have gotten a nice haul for Blake Snell and Josh Hader. They could have really cleaned out some team’s farm system if they had been willing to deal Juan Soto, too.

"Instead, they were half-hearted buyers, adding four replacement-level players and a minor league pitcher while giving up one of their best long-term prospects in the process (Henry Williams)."

It will only be a matter of time to see if the Padres made the right decision to buy at the deadline.
