Phillies Clearly Signaling That Improvements Are Coming This Offseason

As the Philadelphia Phillies begin their offseason, the front office is showing that they plan on making big improvements to bring home a World Series title.

Names are being tossed around like streamers at the Palestra during a crucial Big 5 game.

With news that Aaron Nola is returning, will the Philadelphia Phillies be aggressive and still bring in Sonny Gray? Or Blake Snell?

How about Josh Hader to get the final three outs as the team’s new closer?

Mike Trout anyone?

Welcome to the Hot Stove when rumors fly all over the place.

It hasn’t been too long since the Phillies went ice cold in Games 6 and 7 against the Arizona Diamondbacks in the National League Championship Series.

Philadelphia then watched the Texas Rangers win the World Series. It had to be difficult knowing they were good enough to win a title.

If you’re a passionate Phillies fan, it has to be satisfying to at least know this: the franchise clearly remains active to improve the roster. President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski has proven that he’ll continue working to get the Philadelphia to their ultimate goal – a championship and parade down Broad Street.

It’s early in the offseason but the Phillies’ roster will almost certainly look different in 2024.

The key pieces will be there such as Bryce Harper, Trea Turner, Bryson Stott, Zack Wheeler and Jose Alvarado, among others.

Philadelphia is close to their first championship since 2008. They know that. The fans know that.

Seeing the Phillies linked to big time players has to be refreshing. They don’t seem satisfied to be just qualifying for the playoffs. Not with managing partner John Middleton in charge.

There isn’t a clear path to how Dombrowski will tweak this roster.

But he will make moves. The Phillies will be improved. They’ll be in the mix for another run to a championship.

At this point, that’s all you can ask for.
