Former New York Yankees star catcher Gary Sanchez is signing with the Milwaukee Brewers for one-year, $7 million with an option, according to Jon Heyman of The New York Post.

Sanchez was a top prospect for the Yankees, and tore the cover off the ball in the first couple years, in which he played in the Bronx. From 2016-2019, he had two 30-plus home run seasons and made the All-Star team twice.

But Sanchez was always known for his bat, and faltered defensively behind the plate. Once his production at the plate began to decline as well, the Yankees dealt he and Gio Urshela to the Minnesota Twins in March of 2022 for Josh Donaldson, Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Ben Rortvedt.

However, in 2023, Sanchez saw a bit of a rejuvenation.

He had his best season since 2019 last year, where he slashed .217/.288/.492 with a .780 OPS, 19 home runs and 47 RBIs in 75 games for the San Diego Padres and New York Mets

The majority of Sanchez's campaign was spent with the Padres after appearing in just three games for the Mets.

Now, he will get another opportunity with an additional NL team this year in the Brewers.
