Juan Soto Gives Latest Update on Yankees Contract Talks

Juan Soto gave an update on the latest contract talks with the New York Yankees.

When the New York Yankees made a blockbuster trade for superstar Juan Soto, the next question was if, or when, he was going to sign an extension.

The San Diego Padres received Michael King, Jhony Brito, Randy Vasquez, Drew Thorpe, and Kyle Higashioka. The Yankees also landed Trent Grisham in the deal.

While making this trade was a no-brainer for New York, giving up this much and not extending Soto would be a horrendous outcome. They've found their next star to pair with Aaron Judge and losing him is simply something that can't happen.

It's uncertain the exact amount of money that Soto will sign for at this moment.

Many believe he could be looking at well over $500 million, putting pressure on the Yankees' front office to give him a blank check and walk out of the room.

The 25-year-old Soto is already a three-time All-Star, World Series champion, and four-time Silver Slugger. He's had as decorated of a career as any 25-year-old in Major League Baseball history.

With Scott Boras representing Soto, New York knows better than anyone that there won't be any discounts.

Soto could have the best time of his life in New York City and Boras still won't let him sign for a dollar less than he believes he should get.

In a recent Q&A with Chris Kirschner of The Athletic, Soto spoke about his upcoming contract.

"I just believe in Scott (Boras, his agent). He's been with me since I was a little kid and been helping me out with everything."

Soto added that he came here to play baseball and Boras will take care of the rest.

Winning is a must for the Yankees for more reasons than one.

Showing Soto and Boras that this team has all the plans in the world to compete in a World Series will only help the potential to get the superstar back.

An extension is the second biggest storyline this season outside of the team winning.

Until he signs something, this will be the talk of the town.

For New York, they did what they had to do to land him. Now, it's time to keep him around for the rest of his career.
