Prayers up for this former New York Yankees' three-time World Series Champion.

Darryl Strawberry took to Instagram on Monday night to announce that he suffered a heart attack, but fortunately he is in good spirits as he recovers in the hospital.

Strawberry wrote:

"Praising God for His amazing grace and loving mercy in saving my life this evening from a heart attack. I am so happy and honored to report that all is well. So thankful for the medical team and staff at St. Joseph West in Lake St. Louis for responding so quickly and bringing me through a stent-procedure that has brought my heart to total restoration!!! Your prayers are so absolutely appreciated as I continue to recover, in Jesus Name!"

Strawberry played for the Yankees from 1995-1999, where he made a major impact during some important title years. But given that he was in the later stage of his career, the outfielder/DH did deal with his fair share of injuries during his time in pinstripes.

Now, Strawberry is a regular at Yankees' Old Timers' Day every year, where he is always welcomed back with open arms at the stadium.

That being said, Strawberry is a New York Met, first and foremost. A No. 1 overall pick in the 1980 MLB draft by the Mets, he burst onto the scene in 1983, where he captured the NL Rookie of the Year Award.

Strawberry went on to star for the Mets for eight seasons, and walked away from the team as the franchise's home run record holder with 252 long balls. He also made the All-Star team eight times in his career.

It's no secret that Strawberry has dealt with plenty of adversity in his life and career. Suffering a heart attack is just another obstacle that he has to overcome, which is why his faith and spirits are so high as he gets ready to embark on what will likely be a long road to recovery.
