The New York Yankees were rocked with news that their top prospect Jasson Dominguez had torn his UCL and will likely miss all of the 2024 season. He provided immediate impact since being called up from the minor leagues.

This put a damper on their "youth movement" that had been occurring with the promotions of their top prospects to the major league team as evaluations for next season have begun.

With Dominguez offically being place on the injured list, the Yankees announced they have called up their former top prospect Estevan Florial to fill his roster spot.

The outfielder first made his major league debut in 2020, but has only appeared in 30 games for New York. He played one game for the Yankees in 2023 back on Mar. 30 before being optioned back down to Triple-A.

Florial has dominated for the Triple-A affiliate this season, recording a slash line of .284/.380/.565 with 28 home runs and 79 RBI across 101 games played.

The 25-year-old was once a top prospect in the minor league pipeline before injuries halted his career. He's had his most productive season as a professional in 2023 and will get the opportunity to show what he can do on the major league level once again.

With outfield being a major need of New York, Florial could position himself into being a contributor going into next year. He made the Opening Day roster for 2023, but was sparingly used before being demoted.

Now, he'll try to keep the momentum going from the "youth movement" that has energized the team and fanbase for parts of the final month of the year.
