Yankees' Gerrit Cole Wins AL Pitcher of the Month
A well deserved accolade.
Yankees ace Gerrit Cole has won the American League Pitcher of the Month Award for March/April.
Cole has a 1.35 ERA (2.17 FIP) and 0.90 WHIP with 52 strikeouts in a league-leading 46.2 innings across seven starts this season.
After allowing 33 home runs in 2022, the righty has yet to allow a long ball this year.
Cole, 32, has helped hold down a rotation that has been without Luis Severino, Carlos Rodon and Frankie Montas.
Severino is starting a rehab assignment and is close to a return, but Rodon is dealing with a back issue that has halted his rehab and Montas is out until late in the season.
The good news is that Cole has been dominant and reliable atop the Yankees' rotation.
