Yankees Still Looking To Make Blockbuster Trade For Superstar Pitcher

New York reportedly wants to land one of the best pitchers in the American League

The New York Yankees still are looking to add a superstar to the starting rotation.

New York has been linked to former San Diego Padres pitcher Blake Snell significantly of late but it sounds like the club would prefer to look elsewhere. Snell still is looking for a massive deal and the Yankees don't seem to want to meet his asking price.

There still could be another great option out there for the Yankees. New York has been linked to Chicago White Sox ace Dylan Cease as a possible blockbuster trade candidate and it sounds like they still want to get a deal done.

New York has been linked to Cease on multiple occasions and the club reportedly prefers him to Snell, according to USA Today Sports' Bob Nightengale.

"The New York Yankees would prefer to trade for Chicago White Sox ace Dylan Cease instead of signing free agent Blake Snell, but they are at a standstill with the White Sox," Nightengale said. "They refuse to part with top outfield prospect Spencer Jones in any package for Cease while the White Sox are insisting on him."

Cease would be a massive pickup for the Yankees. The 28-year-old is under team control for the next two seasons and would be significantly cheaper than Snell. The only issue is New York would need to deplete its farm system further.

If the Yankees could agree on a deal with Chicago without parting with Jones, it would be the perfect way to improve the club heading into the 2024 campaign.
