Yankees' Top Prospect Surprisingly Could Make Big League Debut In 2024

New York's top prospect may not be too far from making his big league debut

The New York Yankees certainly have an exciting future.

New York may have had a down year in 2023, but things are looking much better for the club at this point. The Yankees made some interesting additions this offseason with the biggest being superstar slugger Juan Soto.

The Yankees also have some very solid prospects knocking on the door to making their big league debuts. Arguably the most exciting Yankees prospect is outfielder Spencer Jones.

The 22-year-old is New York's top prospect but the club has a surplus of outfielders at this point. While this is the case, he still could end up making his debut in 2024, according to MLB Network's Jon Morosi.

"You look at the Yankees' outfield, they've got (Juan Soto), they've got (Trent Grisham), they've got (Alex Verdugo)," Morosi said. "So for him to arrive in the major leagues this year it would probably require an injury or two among that group which of course the Yankees don't want to happen.

"But, when you look at him and that swing profile at 22 years of age from Vanderbilt, he is someone who in the second half of this year could be an option for them. And that is all Spencer Jones can control. Make yourself an option by continuing to progress at the minor league level and cutting down on strikeouts all the more to make yourself an option in the second half."

Jones has been impressive so far in Spring Training and if he can carry that momentum over into the season, it wouldn't be shocking to see him make his big league debut in 2024.
