Ex-Yankees Stud Somehow Still Available; Could New York Re-join Sweepstakes?

Could New York make one more major move?

The New York Yankees continue to be mentioned in plenty of rumors despite Opening Day being right around the corner.

New York's starting rotation has led to plenty of question marks and many have wondered if another addition could be on the way. Two-time Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell has popped up the most but there are other players out there who could help New York.

If the Yankees were to add another player they would face a massive tax implication, but a move still could make sense. New York is considered one of the top teams in the American League and adding another starter could help put the club over the top.

Snell has been talked about the most, but former Yankees pitcher Jordan Montgomery also still is out there. It's unclear where both will land, but Montgomery is looking for a long-term deal while Snell is open to a short-term contract, according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman.

"Star free agent Jordan Montgomery still seeks a long deal while reigning (National League) Cy Young winner Blake Snell is fine doing a short-term deal with opt-outs," Heyman said."

Montgomery would be a massive pickup for the Yankees and would be less expensive than Snell. He certainly has experience in New York and would be a dependable pickup.

New York is going all in on the 2024 season because of the fact that Juan Soto could end up leaving in free agency. Signing Montgomery would cost a lot of money but it would give the team a better chance at making a deep postseason run. Why not get a deal done?
