It’s not every day that a premier perimeter sniper like Buddy Hield becomes available. The development came after Hield and the Indiana Pacers couldn’t agree on a contract extension, instead deciding to work on a trade that would benefit both the franchise and the veteran wingman.

While numerous teams are salivating at the prospect of adding a sureshot like Hield to their roster, Eastern Conference powerhouse Milwaukee Bucks could be a dark horse to acquire Hield, with NBA insider Shams Charania reporting the Bucks to be interested in the Bahamian’s services.

“You look at teams like Dallas, Philly, Milwaukee. Those are the types of teams that could definitely use a shooter like Buddy Hield. They’ve had a level of interest in him over the last several months, but of course, no deal has happened yet,” Charania said.

Deadly three-point shooter

Hield leads the league in three-pointers made over the last five seasons, with 1,381 trifectas made in 386 games. Yes, he’s been better than the greatest shooter in league history, Steph Curry. That alone should tell you how valuable he could be to the Bucks. With Giannis publicly stating his desire to win more NBA titles, Hield could be the perfect piece to help them reach that goal.

A career 40 percent shooter from deep, Hield would flourish in Milwaukee’s spread offense, as he is comfortable operating without the ball and will surely have plenty of space to get his shot off, given Giannis’ gravity. He would also help take some of the offensive burden off Giannis, freeing up more room for him to operate.

At what cost?

Indiana would want their money’s worth in return, so it could take a hefty package for the Pacers to part ways with Hield. They would likely want at least a first-round pick and/or some quality players as well. Would a combination of Pat Connaughton and Bobby Portis be enough? Perhaps Grayson Allen, Connaughton, and one of the team’s rookies would suffice?

Regardless of what kind of package is put together, Hield would be a great fit for the Bucks. He has the potential to become an All-Star alongside Giannis and provide the team with much-needed perimeter shooting and secondary playmaking.
