Minnesota Timberwolves Make Unexpected History vs Clippers

The Clippers made history in the worst way possible.

The LA Clippers and Minnesota Timberwolves faced off on Tuesday night in a game that was one of the most embarrassing games of the year for LA, and one of the best wins of the year for Minnesota.

In the second quarter, the Clippers up 22 points with five minutes left. Within minutes, the team completely collapsed and nearly lost their entire lead. As the game progressed, not only did the Clippers lose their lead, but they were down 20 points themselves. It was such a putrid performance, that it was actually history within itself.

Since the 2000-01 season, there have been 5,500 moments of an NBA team falling behind by 22+ points on the road. The Minnesota Timberwolves were the only team in NBA history to come back and later take a 22+ point lead themselves - that's how bad of a game it was for the LA Clippers.

While the Clippers have a great record and are tremendous against inferior teams, they've been awful against the top teams in each conference. LA is 21-3 against teams with losing records but has a 6-14 record against teams in the top four spots in both conferences. Simply put, every time the Clippers have needed to win a statement game, they haven't really done it this season. Much of this has been on the performances of Paul George and James Harden.
