Who did the Washington Wizards select in the 2023 NBA Draft?

Entering the 2023 NBA Draft, the Washington Wizards were among the most interesting teams in the league. In the days leading up to the draft, they traded away both Bradley Beal and Kristaps Porzingis, bringing back quite a bit of future draft capital along with players like Jordan Poole and Tyus Jones. Even then, Washington had big decisions to make on Thursday night.

Draft Summary

While both of the selections Washington made in the 2023 NBA Draft might take time to develop, both have tremendous upside. Given the Wizards just kicked off a rebuild in the past week, taking swings like this make a ton of sense. They prioritized moving up a spot to land Bilal Coulibaly, who was one of the fastest risers in this draft cycle. A long, versatile wing, he could end up being the face of the franchise one day.

Vukcevic might be a few years away from really contributing at the NBA level, but is a 7-footer with 3-point range. He's certainly not Kristaps Porzinigis, but does embody similar traits. Especially with a ton of developmental minutes in the next few seasons, both in the G League and NBA levels, he could end up being a steal in the second round.
