2024 NBA Draft: Alexandre Sarr Set To Return

The projected No. 1 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft is set to return tomorrow versus the Illawarra Hawks. Alexandre Sarr hasn’t played a game since Dec. 27, but will make his debut in the new calendar year.

After missing about a month of action, Alexandre Sarr is set to return for the Perth Wildcats who currently is second in the NBL and they have a 15 and seven record. The 7-foot-1 big man suffered a minor hip strain which has forced him to be sidelined for some time. The big negative about hip strains typically is that it limits your ability to move and flip your hips around fluently so it may alter him some on the defensive end if he’s still bothered by it.

Despite missing a month in action, Sarr is still projected to be the top pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. Scouts are in love with what he brings to the table on the defensive end. He’s an elite rim protector who has great timing, defensive instincts and legit size. He’s a fluid big man who’s very comfortable stepping out and defending in space. Sarr is comfortably one of the most versatile defenders in the draft.

Offensively Sarr doesn’t have a clear role on that end, but he can do a lot of things well offensively. He has shown he’s a high-level finisher at the rim as he has the touch to make tough layups and the athleticism and size to be an above the rim finisher. The skilled big man can even put the ball on the floor and make tough shots off the dribble. Sarr has shown he’s a capable shooter from behind the arc and has the potential to be looked at as a legit stretch big.

From what it appears, there will be no minutes restriction for the projected top pick which is a great sign as it indicates he’s fully healthy. On the season, Sarr has played 18 games and is averaging 9.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, 0.8 assists, just over one block and half a steal while shooting 50.8% from the field and 29.5% from behind the arc. Sarr has come off the bench every single game of the season, so we should expect the same thing when he returns tomorrow.
