2024 NBA Draft: Drake’s Tucker DeVries' Great Start to the Season

Tucker DeVries is leading the NCAA in points per game to this point. Does the 6-foot-7 sharpshooter have the ability to keep this stellar play up?

Although we are very early into the college season, there has been some players that look to have taken a big leap as far as on-court production goes. Junior wing Tucker DeVries has had an incredible start to the season, and may have been one of the players that have taken that big step forward.

The junior wing is nearly averaging 29 points, five assists, seven rebounds and two steals per contest. DeVries is one of the best shooters in college basketball and was projected as a second-round pick in the 2023 NBA Draft before electing to return to college and play another year for Drake.

The 6-foot-7 wing is leading college basketball in points per game as he has been on absolute fire to start the season. The two big questions are if DeVries can keep this stellar play up and if so, will he be able to sneak his name into first-round conversations in a weaker draft?

The sad thing about Drake’s schedule is that they don’t play any top 25 schools this season unless they make the NCAA tournament, which isn’t the most exciting news to hear as far as film evaluation goes. Scouts and NBA personnel would love to watch him against high quality opponents this season.

Drake’s next game is on Sunday versus Oakland and we will be able to see DeVries in his third game of the season. Will the elite shooting prospect continue to prove he’s much more than just a shooter and will he continue to play at a high level? Time will tell, but DeVries is definitely someone to keep an eye on as someone who can start to get his name into first-round conversations.
