NBA Draft: Jared McCain, Ulrich Chomche and PJ Hall Among 2024 Stock Risers

A lot can change in a month, especially in the NBA draft world. Here are the biggest stock risers over the last month as we enter the new year.

The 2024 NBA Draft has had a lot of movements on mock drafts and draft boards over the last month.

Some of the biggest risers have been Jared McCain, Ulrich Chomche and PJ Hall. Let’s dive into why their stocks have risen and what they will bring to an NBA organization:

Jared McCain | Duke

Jared McCain, Duke Blue Devils

McCain is a 6-foot-3 shooting guard that is averaging 12 points per game, and has started every single game for Duke this season. The skilled guard was projected to go undrafted about a month ago and is now seen as a first round prospect.

McCain’s most NBA ready skill is his elite shooting ability from the outside and he has shown that this season as he’s shooting over 40% from the 3-point line with over 50% of his shot attempts coming from behind the arc.

The Duke freshman is also a competitive defender and a good point of attack defender, but he doesn’t possess a ton of impressive physical tools and isn’t much of a defensive playmaker. The scoring instincts, shooting ability and feel for the game is what makes him a projected first round pick.

Ulrich Chomche | Cameroon

Ulrich Chomche

Chomche is a 6-foot-11 big man that has been one of the most unique draft risers we have had in recent memory. The Cameroon native is the youngest prospect in the draft and is absolutely oozing with potential. Chomche really saw his stock skyrocket up at the G League Showcase where he looked super impressive in front of NBA scouts. He showcased his defensive versatility, explosiveness and offensive flashes at this event.

At 6-foot-11, he shoots 38% from behind the arc while also averaging 2.7 blocks per game showcasing he has legit 3-and-D upside. It’s unknown if he has legit interest in entering the 2024 NBA Draft or not, but he has been gaining a ton of steam recently and would likely be drafted in this year’s draft if elects to enter.

PJ Hall | Clemson

Hall is a senior that has played all four years with the Clemson Tigers and he has been one of the most productive big in the entire country this year. The 6-foot-10 senior is averaging nearly 20 points while also blocking two shots per game. Hall is a skilled center that keeps the game quite simple.

He’s able to score in the low post, he can step out and make a 3-pointer and is a good passing big man out of the low post and top of the key. Defensively he has taken a step forward as he looks more athletic with the movements being quicker and even his defensive instincts looking a lot sharper down in the painted area. He should get a ton of first round consideration.
