NBA Draft: Ohio State’s Brice Sensabaugh Emerging as Potent Scorer

In this story:
Ohio State forward Brice Sensabaugh is quickly trending towards the 2023 NBA Draft Lottery conversation.
As a surprise potential one-and-done, Sensabaugh started the season out seeing fewer minutes, leading to him still averaging just 22.9 on the season. Despite that, the 6-foot-6 former Gatorade Player of the Year winner in Florida is still averaging 16.3 points on 53 percent field goal shooting, 45 percent 3-point shooting and 80 percent shooting from the charity stripe.
Per 40, Sensabaugh’s numbers are gaudy: 28.5 points, 7.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.9 blocks. In his last three games, he's is averaging 20.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 29.0 minutes.
At the professional level, Sensabaugh is sure to provide an immediate fusion of offense for any team in search of it. Especially those ready to give him an immediate opportunity.
He’s a potent shooter and scorer overall, using a variety of moves to position himself with the very little spacing he needs to get shots off. His mechanics are solid and he’s a smart and savvy
Of course, there’s plenty for Sensabaugh to work on: passing and facilitating, overall defense and decision-making. But a legitimate 3-level scorer has priority over several archetypes in the NBA Draft.
Per Draft Digest's earlier scouting report on Sensabaugh: "Although he’s a natural scorer that can create for himself, he needs to improve as a facilitator. Sensabaugh won’t be asked to be a lead guard at the NBA level, but does sometimes have poor shot selection and gets tunnel vision.
"Regardless, his build and versatility give him upside as a solid two-way player at the next level. He has ideal positional size to make an impact in the NBA, and is young enough that he’s absolutely just scratching the surface of his potential."
Sensabaugh and the Buckeyes next take on Maryland at 12 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 8.
