NBA Rookies, G League Ignite Players Selected to NBA Rising Stars Game

Four G League Ignite players and 11 rookies will play in the NBA’s Rising Stars contest for All-Star weekend.

The 2024 Rising Stars game will have its fair share of young talent, consisting of both current NBA players and future ones.

Eleven rookies were selected to compete in the event, including Bilal Coulibaly, Keyonte George, Jordan Hawkins, Scoot Henderson, Chet Holmgren, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Dereck Lively, Brandon Miller, Brandin Podziemski, Cason Wallace and, of course, Victor Wembanyama.

Four G League Ignite prospects have also been added to the pool.

Izan Almansa, Matas Buzelis, Ron Holland and Tyler Smith were all chosen from the Ignite, with Mac McClung, Oscar Tshiebwe and Alondes Williams filling out the rest of the G League selections.

The seven-person team will make up the G League team, which will be coached by former NBA All-Star Detlef Schrempf.

All four Ignite players are projected to be selected in this year’s 2024 NBA Draft, with Holland and Buzelis likely being top 10 picks.

While there isn’t a serious amount of stock taken in the Rising Stars game, it does offer an interesting look at the prospects on-court with other young NBA stars.

In regards to the Rising Stars as a whole, the weekend will feature a mini-tournament consisting of four total teams and three games. There will be 21 NBA players and the seven aforementioned G Leaguers.

NBA players will be drafted to their respective teams by the other honorary head coaches: Pau Gasol, Jalen Rose and Tamika Catchings. Games will be played to a target scored of 40 in the semifinals and 25 in the finals.

All-Star weekend in Indianapolis kicks off on Feb. 16 and runs through Feb. 18.
