NBA Summer League: Top Matchups Each Day in Las Vegas

NBA Summer League in Las Vegas is one of the most anticipated events of the year for NBA fans. It's the largest summer circuit of the three put on by the NBA, as all 30 teams come together for nearly two weeks.

Not only will this event feature each of the top incoming rookies, but some of the best second year players in the league will also compete. From there, rosters are filled out with players that are looking to showcase their talent in effort to work their way into the rotation on their current team in the regular season or earn a contract altogether.

In general, the very best players will only be competing in the first game or two of this event. Once that happens, some of the elite talent will begin phasing out of these games which presents an opportunity in the back half for underrated players to shine more.

Here is a list of our most anticipated two games during each day of the event in Las Vegas.

July 7

  • Spurs vs Hornets

The potential first look at Victor Wembanyma playing in a Spurs jersey, along with No. 2 overall pick Brandon Miller taking the floor.

  • Rockets vs Trail Blazers

In a game that will feature a ton of athleticism, we'll get the first career matchup between Scoot Henderson and Amen Thompson.

July 8

  • Thunder vs Mavericks

Joined by new rookie Cason Wallace, Chet Holmgren could be making a second NBA Summer League appearance, this time against another 7-footer in Dereck Lively.

  • Pistons vs Magic

On two of the young, rising teams in the league, Ausar Thompson vs Anthony Black will be a fascinating matchup.

July 9

  • Rockets vs Pistons

This will be the battle of the Thompson twins, as Ausar and Amen face off for the first time in their respective NBA careers.

  • Cavaliers vs Raptors

Gradey Dick will look to shoot the lights out in Las Vegas, but he'll have to outscore Emoni Bates in this one.

July 10

  • Pacers vs Magic

Jarace Walker should wreck havoc defensively in Summer League, but he'll be going up against a ton of young talent when he matches up against Orlando.

  • Timberwolves vs Jazz

Minnesota snagged projected first-round pick Leonard Miller in the second, so he'll begin his career this summer with an early matchup against the Jazz, who landed three first rounders in Taylor Hendricks, Keyonte George and Brice Sensabaugh.

July 11

  • Wizards vs Spurs

While it's unclear how many games Wembanyama will play, this could be a matchup between him and French teammate Bilal Coulibaly.

  • Rockets vs Thunder

Houston and OKC always put on a show when they take the floor together, with this matchup likely being no different.

July 12

  • Clippers vs Grizzlies

GG Jackson could end up being the steal of the draft in Memphis, but before his career truly begins he'll take on Kobe Brown and the Clippers in Summer League.

  • Warriors vs Mavericks

Brandin Podziemski is one of the most underrated players in this class, but will quickly make a name for himself in Las Vegas.

July 13

  • 76ers vs Hawks

While the Sixers didn't make any selections on draft night, their very impressive core of undrafted free agents will take on Kobe Bufkin and the Hawks.

  • Hornets vs Pelicans

Even outside of Miller, the Hornets had a stellar draft while bringing in Nick Smith Jr., James Nnaji and Amari Bailey, who will match up with Jordan Hawkins and New Orleans late in the circuit.

July 14

  • Lakers vs Grizzlies

Jalen Hood-Schifino and Maxwell Lewis could be key contributors for the Lakers next season, but first they'll take on the Grizzlies in Summer League.

  • Heat vs Nuggets

Jaime Jaquez Jr. projects to be a potential day-one rotation player in Miami, but he'll first need to prove himself against Julian Strawther and the rest of the Nuggets' rookies.
