Overtime Elite: Lincoln Cosby is Next Up

Although he's one of the youngest players in the OTE system, Lincoln Cosby has tremendous upside and is already making contributions.

Over the weekend ahead of NBA All-Star festivities, Overtime Elite put on a showcase in Indianapolis. While many players used this as an opportunity to shine in front of NBA personnel, one of the players that really continued to show flashes of potential was 6-foot-9 forward, Lincoln Cosby.

Just 15 years old, Cosby is one of the youngest players in the Overtime Elite system. With that in mind, he's already started to find ways to make an impact and provide value to his team. He doesn't play on a consistent basis, but actually started for RWE on Friday afternoon against YNG Dreamerz in a convincing win.

It seems as if the defensive side of the ball is going to be his key to earning minutes. Given he's going up against players who are primarily at least two or three years older than him, that side of the ball has been a real adjustment for Cosby. He has a smooth left-handed jumper that is reliable from the midrange and beyond the arc already — along with a good handle and incredible fluidity for his size — and is effective offensively but is now starting to figure out how he can defend at a high level.

In short, Cosby is up next for OTE. As early as next season, it wouldn't be surprising for him to be one of the better players in the league. He's already grown two inches since joining Overtime Elite, but is likely still growing. He has also taken full advantage of the professional-level facilities and has filled out from a physical standpoint over the past few months.

It will be fascinating to watch how Cosby performs against players his own age in competition this summer. It's very likely that he emerges as one of the top players in the 2027 class, with a great opportunity to show his development in year one at OTE.

Corey Frazier — head coach of RWE and Head of Player Development at OTE — spoke about Cosby's upside at the conclusion of the event in Indianapolis late last week.

"Well for one, he's probably still growing. His nickname is 'Pup' because he's so young. I think he has a lot of Chris Bosh similarities. I think once he grows into who he is going to be and into those big feet he's got, we'll start to see him grow into a better player. Right now we use him as a spot-up and corner shooter and he can do that very well," Frazier told Draft Digest. "I hope that people can see this kid is going to be good, because he's playing against grown men, literally."

Keep an eye on Lincoln Cosby. He's one of the best players in his class and is next up as OTE's future homegrown star.
