Ron Holland Stuffs Stat Sheet Against Stockton Kings

Ron Holland dominated in G League Ignite's back-to-back.

Early on, 2024 NBA Draft boards have been all over the place. Many players such as Isaiah Collier, Alexandre Sarr, and Matas Buzelis have appearead on top of early big boards. However, at this point, Ron Holland seems like the most popular pick to go first overall.

He backed this claim up in a big way on Friday night. In a 110-103 loss to the Stockton Kings, the Sacramento Kings' G League affiliate, Holland scored 32 points, grabbed nine boards, dished out four assists, tallied five steals, and rejected two shots. He did all this while converting 12 of his 19 field goal attempts and all five of his tries from the free throw line.

This performance is Holland’s best of the season thus far. Through eight G League showcase games, the 6-foot-6 wing has averaged 17.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.1 steals, and 0.9 blocks per game while shooting 46% from the field, 22.7% from beyond the arc, and 56.5% from the charity stripe.

Given that he’s struggled mightily from the free throw line, his 4-for-5 performance Friday was very encouraging. As an athletic slasher first and foremost, ideally Holland should live at the free throw line down the line. If he can’t knock down these attempts, he’ll leave a lot of easy points on the table.

Additionally, Holland cut down on his turnovers on Friday. He’s struggled with them all season, averaging 4.4 per contest, but this time he only turned the ball over three times. Consistently limiting these numbers will do wonders in terms of solidifying his draft slot at the top.

Holland also dominated defensively. A big part of his prospect candidacy, he wreaked havoc on the perimeter en route to his five steals.

On Saturday night, G League Ignite matched up with the Stockton Kings again for the second leg of their back-to-back. This time, Ignite came out on top, earning their first victory of the season in a tight 100-93 win.

Holland once again dominated many aspects of the game. He went for north of 20 points again (21), and flanked these buckets with seven boards and a pair of steals.

Holland and G League Ignite will next take the floor on Thursday against none other than the Stockton Kings.
