Those who weren’t familiar with No. 1 pick Victor Wembanyama’s game prior to the NBA preseason are already getting a taste of what’s to come in his career.

Wembanyama, at his core, defies conventionality: a 7-foot-4 center with a near-8-foot wingspan, who not only is able to play beyond the 3-point line, but thrive. Things were always going to be logic-shattering.

But through just three preseason games with San Antonio, he’s already defied expectations.

Poster slams on unsuspecting defenders. Spindly turnaround jump-shots. Euro-step’s from the top of the key.

Last night’s highlight-level Wembanuama play was a nutmeg dribble between Reggie Bullock’s legs that yielded almost nothing, but was still a visibly illogical feat that sent shivers down the spines of NBA defenders everywhere.

Perhaps most impressively, the stats are already backing up the craziness.

The frenchman is scoring 19.3 points, grabbing 5.0 rebounds and dishing out 2.0 blocks per game in three contests so far. He’s shooting 55 percent overall — not a phenomenal mark for center, but a good one for an essential seven-and-a-half foot wing — and is hitting on 33 percent of his whopping five 3-pointer attempted per game.

Simply put, Wembanyama is here. And he’s been dominant already.

And as for the highlight after highlight spanning your social media feed, you’re likely going to have to get used to it. As it’s not going to go away anytime soon.
