To this point, teams know what they’re getting in French prospect Victor Wembanyama. The only question remaining is who gets him.

Lauded for years as the top basketball prospect on the planet, Wembanyama has now cruised through competition for close to a full season now, averaging 21.8 points, 10.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 3.1 blocks in 32 games in the LNB Pro A league in France.

He's such a talent, that in just six days at the 2023 NBA Draft Lottery, we’ll know where his next destination. And, in short, what they’ll be getting is a generational talent the likes of which we’ve never seen on the hardwood.

At 7-foot-4, or potentially even an inch taller, Wembanyama is a reality defying scorer and defender that will change the DNA of whatever team he lands with.

Offensively, he’s got the tight handle, fluidity and live-dribble play of a small forward. He has uncanny shooting touch from range and he already has a wide range of dribble moves at his disposal that even some NBA stars don’t have in their bag. All while function as one of the better traditional bigs, too, due to his size and innate feel.

Defensively, Wembanyama is going to be game-changing, despite not being the most technical defender.

He’s averaging a league-best 3.1 blocks per game and nearly one steal per game in the LNB. And for all intents and purposes will enter the league as one of the best rim-protectors. When he’s on the court, teams are going to have to game-plan around him.

Suffice to say, whatever team lands Wembanyama’s talents is going to have their genetic makeup altered the day he steps foot in the building.

Unfortunately for the 14 lottery teams, no one has more than a 14 percent chance at landing his talents, and many have less than a seven percent chance. The lottery will kick off at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16.
