Victor Wembanyama Officially Declares for 2023 NBA Draft

In this story:
A forgone conclusion, as he’s been lauded as one of the best prospects since LeBron James, French phenom Victor Wembanyama officially declared for the 2023 NBA Draft on Friday.
Wembanyama announced the news officially on ESPN’s “NBA Today.”
At 7-foot-4 with an 8-foot wingspan, Wembanyama is projected to be the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft by all. He leads the LNB Pro A league in points and blocks per game at 21.4 and 3.1, respectively, all at 19-years-old.
Draft Digest’s own Ignacio Rissotto details Wembanyama’s generational-level play in his ‘Map of Victor Wembanyama Series’ below:
Part Two: Catch-and-Finish Scoring
Part Three: Back to the Basket
Part Five: Shooting Versatility
Again, it was a forgone conclusion that Wembanyama was not only entering the draft, but will be hearing his name called first, too. Now, all that’s left is for the 2023 draft lottery to let us in on who will be drafting him.
The Pistons, Rockets and Spurs all have the best odds at landing the top pick at 14 percent, followed by Charlotte with a 12.5 percent chance and Portland with a 10.5 percent chance.
"Declaring for the draft, it's something crazy I'm not realizing yet," Wembanyama told ESPN. "I realized pretty young I wanted to play in the NBA but it becomes a reality more every day.”
The NBA draft combine and lottery will both kick off on Tuesday, May 16.
