Wemby Watch: Defensive Disruptiveness Reaches New Heights

In this story:
As the San Antonio Spurs near the 20-game mark in the 2023-24 campaign, they've only been able to put together three wins to this point. Regardless, they've still been a team everyone keeps an eye on every single night due to the once in a lifetime talent in Victor Wembanyama taking the court.
He's been up and down this season — and more recently lost the crown of NBA Rookie of the Year favorite to Chet Holmgren — but has been fascinating nonetheless.
What has the generational talent done since our last Wemby Watch update, and what are his statistics to this point?
2023-24 Stats: 19.2 PPG | 9.5 RPG | 2.6 BPG | 1.3 SPG | 2.6 APG | 43% FG | 27.5% 3PT
Spurs Record: 3-14
It was a light week for Wembanyama and the Spurs, but he has now scored 22 points in three consecutive games. The efficiency still isn't there for the 19-year-old, but the defense continues to shine bright.
In his most recent contest, Wembanyama notched six steals and four blocks, putting together a rare 10-stock (steals + blocks) performance. While the 7-foot-4 center changes the game nearly every play on the defensive end, the disruptiveness has been special of late. That's 10 possessions that were potentially erased for the Nuggets simply from Wembanyama's presence.
While Wembanyama continues to generate turnovers on one end, his offensive is slowly getting better. Once that comes around, we're talking about a player that could be one of the best of all time.

In the upcoming week, Wembanyama and the Spurs will take on the Atlanta Hawks, New Orleans Pelicans and Minnesota Timberwolves.
