Scouting Report: Keshad Johnson

2024 Draft Age: 22.99

Keshad Johnson, Arizona Wildcats

Prospect Profile

Following an impressive run to the championship game of the NCAA Tournament as a senior with San Diego State, Johnson transferred to Arizona for his fifth college season.

Johnson isn’t the type of player who fills up the stat sheet or scores a lot of points in a flashy way, but he flat-out impacts winning. He plays with an impressive motor and uses his strong frame to bully opponents.

Again, the fifth-year forward doesn’t project to be a primary scorer at the next level, but he does enough things that will allow him to help an NBA team in many ways. When he does need to score, Johnson is solid on the offensive glass and generates points in the paint. He can also get to the rim with ease, leveraging his physical style of play.

Johnson has improved his jumper, showing a willingness and ability not only to knock down triples, but also convert from the free throw line. Even then, he has a long way to go as a shooter. If he can improve and consistently knock down 3-point shots, it will drastically impact his trajectory at the next level and swing his draft stock. Since becoming a member of the Wildcats, shooting has clearly been a focal point of improvement for him. He has also shown more as a passer and connector since coming to Arizona.

On the defensive end, Johnson is a strong anchor, using his broad frame to his advantage. He can protect the paint, but also has quick feet and can contain in space. He plays an extremely physical brand of basketball on that end and is active in passing lanes with the ability to generate a high number of assists for a forward.

While he projects to be a role player at the NBA level, the former four-star recruit out of California has the tools to be extremely impactful. Especially if his jumper continues improving and the defense translates, he should be a solid player.
