Chris Paul Reacts to Kevin Durant Trade to Phoenix Suns

Chris Paul isn't taking Kevin Durant for granted.

If there's one player who desperately wants an NBA Championship, it's Chris Paul. At age 37, Chris Paul knows championship opportunities are very few and far between. With Kevin Durant now on the Phoenix Suns, it's the most favorited team Chris Paul has ever been on.

In an interview with Nick Friedell of ESPN, Paul gave his reaction to having Kevin Durant as a teammate on the Suns.

"It's different," Paul told ESPN. "It's taken some getting used to. I was telling [Devin Booker] the other day, I played with a lot of great players -- I got a chance to play with Blake [Griffin], I got a chance to play with David West early in my career, I played with James [Harden] -- [but] probably never two guys of this caliber, as far as Devin and KD. ... I know I'm not taking it for granted. I told [Booker] not to."

Paul and Durant have been teammates on numerous All-Star games and even Olympic teams. They've been rivals in numerous playoff runs when Paul was both a member of the LA Clippers and Houston Rockets. Every single time, Kevin Durant has been the victor over Chris Paul in the playoffs. Now, they're teammates.

"I know, know KD, you know what I'm saying?" Paul said. "We done talked for years, worked out, all this stuff. It's wild. Everything happens for a reason. KD is like family. So now, to get an opportunity to play alongside him in this capacity, I'm excited and grateful for the opportunity."

The Brooklyn Nets' loss is now the Phoenix Suns' gain. On one fateful night, the Suns immediately rose to a championship favorite, while the Nets' championship hopes immediately diminished. While the Nets build toward the future, the Suns have to win now.
