Report: Kyrie Irving Still Interested in Lakers Trade

According to Adrian Wojnarowki of ESPN, Kyrie Irving has maintained trade interest with the Los Angeles Lakers.

It seemed everything was staying afloat with the Brooklyn Nets. The team has gone 4-7 without Kevin Durant (right knee, MCL sprain) and is expecting him to return in the coming weeks.

Through that mist, there were hard negotiations going on behind the scenes. After the Nets and superstar guard, Kyrie Irving failed to reach common ground with a long-term extension, a shocking trade demand was made. A trade demand that gives Brooklyn six days to take action and make a deal.

Irving has told the Nets organization that he wants to be traded before the Feb. 9 NBA Trade Deadline. One of those teams that will certainly be ringing Brooklyn's phone will be the Los Angeles Lakers. He has not shared a formal list of other teams he'd like to be dealt to

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Brooklyn's Kyrie Irving has not shared a list of preferred teams, but he has maintained an interest in the Lakers. LA is expected to be among the teams that'll explore a possible trade with the Nets.

The Lakers, who expressed interest in Irving last off-season, are in need of a scoring point guard. In addition, superstar forward LeBron James spent three seasons playing with the disgruntled point guard with the Cleveland Cavaliers. During that time, the two stars won an NBA championship.

If Los Angeles were to acquire Irving, it would put the struggling Western Conference contender back on a winning path and revive hopes of contending for a championship.

The Nets host the Washington Wizards on Saturday night at Barclays Center. At the time of this writing, there is no update on whether Irving will sit out for the contest. Brooklyn will already be without Ben Simmons, T.J. Warren, and Durant.
