No one saw it coming when Kevin Durant was unexpectedly traded from the Brooklyn Nets to the Phoenix Suns late Wednesday night - not even Mikal Bridges.

Bridges was a part of the trade that sent Kevin Durant to Phoenix, but he didn't even know it was happening until his teammate Damion Lee told him on FaceTime.

"My boy Damion Lee, we was in a hotel and he FaceTimed me," Bridges said. "You could tell he was upset and he was just like 'sorry, I'm sorry about this and that.' I'm like 'what are you talking about?' He was like 'you ain't see it? You got traded to Brooklyn for KD.' I was like 'awww man', went to Twitter, saw it, and that's when I tweeted. Then my agent called me a couple of minutes later."

In all honesty, this type of surprising trade story happens more times than fans would expect. Sometimes, players are notified beforehand that their name is going to be shopped for a certain player, or that they're on the trade block. Other times, a trade can appear so quickly that there just isn't even enough time to notify a player.

In the case of Mikal Bridges, it seems like it was the latter. Durant wanted to get Pascal Siakam on the Brooklyn Nets, but it couldn't happen, and then he formally requested his trade. Things moved quickly, and players couldn't be notified in time.
