The Indiana Pacers traded the seventh overall pick in the NBA to the Washington Wizards, according to a report from Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The pick, which is the Pacers own first round pick, was used on French wing Bilal Coulibaly, who was teammates with number one overall pick Victor Wembanyama. In return, according to Charania, the Pacers received the eighth overall pick and extra sound round draft capital.

The Pacers received extra draft capital to move back one spot in the draft order. If they had no plans of selecting Coulibaly, then that is good business. For a team that is still fairly early in the rebuilding process, adding assets while keeping a top-10 pick is a way to accelerate their build.

According to multiple reports, the Pacers will take Houston forward Jarace Walker with the eighth overall pick. He worked out for Indiana earlier in the draft cycle.

The Pacers netted a second round pick from the Suns in 2028 and a second rounder from the Wizards in 2029 for moving back.
