Indiana Pacers pick G League Ignite's Mojave King with 47th overall pick

King played in nearly 50 games for the G League Ignite this past season

The Indiana Pacers selected G League Ignite guard/wing Mojave King with the 47th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.

It was the Pacers third pick of the draft. They chose Jarace Walker with the eighth overall pick and Ben Sheppard at 26. It has been a busy night for the blue and gold.

King worked out for the Pacers in a pre-draft workout on June 10 alongside Rayan Rupert. "It was a lot of fun," he said after the audition. "I think it went really, really well."

King was hoping to show teams his competitiveness during the pre-draft process. He has played in New Zealand, Australia, and with the Ignite prior to the draft, and he overlapped with Pacers rookie Bennedict Mathurin when the two were at the NBA Global academy.

"We were on the same team for one tournament. That was a pretty good team. We won that tournament pretty easily," King said.

With the Ignite this past season, the 21-year old averaged 9.4 points and 4.4 rebounds per game in 48 appearances. He shot 40.4% from the field and 32% from deep. He had some solid defensive moments but will be a project for the blue and gold.

Indiana still has the 55th overall pick in the draft, which they acquired in a trade with the Cavaliers. They acquired pick 47 from the Lakers after a series of trades earlier this week, which allowed them to select King. King could be a candidate for a two-way contract, though the new second-round pick exception will make his contract worth monitoring.
