Pelicans Draft Sharpshooter Jordan Hawkins With No. 14 Pick
New Orleans, LA - The New Orleans Pelicans select Jordan Hawkins with the No. 14 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. The sophomore guard from the University of Connecticut guided the Huskies to the 2023 National Championship in April. Hawkins averaged 16.2 points on nearly 39% from the three-point line.
The Gaithersburg, MD, native picked up All-Big East, NCAA All-Region, and NCAA All-Tournament honors while leading the Huskies to their fifth title in 25 years.
New Orleans ranked second-to-last in the NBA in three-point attempts last season. Hawkins set records for making the second-most three-pointers; his 2.9 three-pointers per game was second in UConn history. Hawkins and Trey Murphy III will look to be a deadly duo from behind the three-point line for years to come for New Orleans.
