Phoenix Suns center Deandre Ayton started off with quite the introduction on Media Day, side-stepping questions about his summer and keeping his answers short and sweet so much to the point where social media mocked his seriousness and compromised replies.

Tuesday, the first day at Suns training camp, proved to be no more helpful.

Ayton was asked how his relationship with head coach Monty Williams was after the notable Game 7 loss to the Dallas Mavericks. Ayton was benched in the third quarter and didn't return to the game, spurring a feisty offseason fueled with speculation.

His answer won't help put out any fires soon.

"I haven't spoke to Monty, no. I haven't spoke to him at all ever since the game," said Ayton (h/t Duane Rankin)

When asked if he hopes that changes soon, Ayton replied and said, "I'm here" before respond with "Yeah, I'm alright," after being asked if he's happy to be in Phoenix.

"When I'm between those lines man, I just work. I'm not playing for myself. I have an organization across my chest and a name on my back I have to represent."

It's very clear there's an attitude shift with Ayton. Whether he wants to actually be with the team or not is murky at this moment in time, at least based off his interactions with media members.

Williams has been adamant through the offseason that he and Ayton have no bad blood between them.

“I think the ceiling for DA is … or his next stop is becoming an All-Star,” Williams said at Media Day.

“And to do that you have to be good a lot. In order to be great you got to be good a lot. All of the guys that make the All-Star team, especially the first time, they almost have to do more than everyone else who’s already made the team.

“So that’s going to require a lot of sacrifice from him, but also pushes me to want to put him in a position where he can be successful on both ends of the floor.”

The Suns play their first preseason game this Sunday, Oct. 2.
