Anthony Davis calls Timberwolves 'best' team Lakers have faced

Davis is the latest All-Star to weigh in on the Timberwolves' season.

NBA All-Star weekend has served as a referendum for the Minnesota Timberwolves as they enter the yearly spectacle with the best record in the Western Conference.

With the league's top stars in attendance, many have been asked what they think of the Timberwolves' season so far and Los Angeles Lakers forward Anthony Davis was the latest to give a positive review when he was asked which team is the best the Lakers have faced this season.

"Probably Minnesota and [Anthony Edwards]," Davis told reporters during his media session on Saturday. "They're playing really well and Ant has just taken his game to another level."

Davis' assessment has merit as the Timberwolves have won both meetings with the Lakers, including a 118-111 victory in Minneapolis on Dec. 21 and a 108-106 win in Los Angeles on Dec. 30.

Edwards has also taken a step forward averaging career highs in points (26.3) and assists (5.3) while also shooting a career-high 38.6% on 3-pointers.

Davis' comments are on the opposite end of New Orleans Pelicans guard C.J. McCollum, who praised the Timberwolves for their play but also emphasized that his team is dangerous when healthy.

With the Lakers and Pelicans figuring to be contenders this spring, the Timberwolves will have a chance to live up to the hype and change minds in the stretch run and the playoffs.
