Karl-Anthony Towns undergoes successful knee surgery

KAT will be re-evaluated in a month

The Minnesota Timberwolves announced that Karl-Anthony Towns underwent successful surgery Tuesday.

Towns had surgery to repair a left knee lateral meniscus tear. The Wolves said Towns will be re-evaluated in four weeks.

Minnesota have been without Towns for the past three games, going 1-2 in that stretch and falling out of the top spot in the West, down to third place. The Wolves now sit a game-and-a-half back of the Thunder for first place in the West.

Towns had been having a bounce-back season after missing much of the 2022-23 season due to injury. In 60 games Towns was averaging 22.1 points, 8.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game while shooting 50% from the floor, 43% from 3 and 87% from the free throw line.

Minnesota has 17 games remaining this season with the regular season finale April 14 against the Suns. It is expected if he does return, Towns would be back "early in the playoffs" according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
