Chris Finch: Anthony Edwards’ maturity is ‘work in progress’
After Anthony Edwards issued a statement on social media Monday after a woman who claimed Edwards had impregnated her shared alleged text messages between the two that showed Edwards allegedly attempting to convince her to have an abortion, Timberwolves coach Chris Finch said Edwards’ education and maturity continue “to be a work in progress.”
“We will be having ongoing conversations about such things. I think it’s important to state that it’s not reflective of our organization, our values, for sure,” Finch told reporters ahead of Monday’s game against the Heat in Miami. “And as a young man, it’s clear that the education and maturity of Anthony Edwards continues to be a work in progress. Beyond that, it’s a personal matter for him and any conversations that we have will remain private.”
Model Paige Jordae posted alleged text messages between her and Edwards to her Instagram story on Monday in which Edwards offered to pay her to have an abortion. She also posted what appeared to be a wire transfer of $100,000.
After the posts went viral on Monday, Edwards posted a statement on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
“I made comments in the heat of a moment that are not me, and that are not aligned with what I believe and who I want to be as a man. All women should be supported and empowered to make their own decisions about their bodies and what is best for them. I am handling my personal matters privately and will not be commenting on them any further at this time,” Edwards said in his post.
Edwards, who was questionable with a hip injury, was in the starting lineup for Minnesota’s game against the Heat Monday in Miami.
